Christmas & High Season — Book Early!

Langkawi's peak season runs November to April. Christmas week sees hotel prices surge 200–300% and flights sell out fast. We strongly recommend booking both flights and hotels by August 2026 at the latest. Do not leave this to the last minute — the best rates and availability disappear months in advance.

How It All Began

The first time I saw him, we were both sitting at the same gate, waiting for a flight to Dundee — two strangers brought together as travel buddies by the University of Dundee, helping overseas students find their way. I remember glancing over and thinking, “Oh wow, he’s young and cute.”

What began as a simple coincidence soon grew into something far more meaningful. From the moment we arrived safely in Dundee, he became my constant support, caring for me throughout my undergraduate years.

In 2019, I moved to Canada to pursue my master’s degree, and our journey continued across continents through years of long-distance love — until, at last, in 2025, the distance came to an end.

Now, as we begin this beautiful new chapter together, we would be truly delighted to have you join us in celebrating our story. ❤

Where is Langkawi?

Langkawi is a stunning archipelago of 99 islands off the northwest coast of Malaysia, sitting in the Andaman Sea just south of the Thai border. It is Malaysia's only UNESCO Global Geopark and one of Southeast Asia's most beautiful island destinations.

🌴

Duty-Free Island Paradise

Langkawi has duty-free status, making alcohol, chocolate, and cigarettes significantly cheaper than the Malaysian mainland. Stock up at the ferry terminal or local shops.

🧱

UNESCO Global Geopark

The island sits within a UNESCO-recognised Geopark, home to ancient rock formations, lush mangrove forests, and spectacular limestone karst landscapes shaped over 550 million years.

🏖

World-Class Beaches

Pantai Cenang, Pantai Tengah, and Tanjung Rhu are among Southeast Asia's most beautiful stretches of white sand. The Andaman Sea here is calm, warm, and crystal clear in December.

🦅

Wildlife & Nature

Home to the iconic Langkawi Sky Bridge, Oriental Pied Hornbills, and diverse marine life. Mangrove kayaking, island-hopping boat tours, and jungle waterfalls are all just minutes away.

🍜

Incredible Food

A melting pot of Malay, Chinese, and Thai cuisines. Fresh seafood, laksa, char kuey teow, and some of the best nasi lemak you'll ever eat — all at Malaysian prices.

The St Regis Langkawi

Set along a pristine stretch of beachfront on the Andaman Sea, The St Regis Langkawi is one of Southeast Asia's most celebrated luxury resorts — and the setting for our wedding celebration on 26 December 2026.

Our Recommended Way to Arrive

1

Fly direct to Langkawi International Airport (LGK)

All guests should fly into Langkawi International Airport (LGK), the island's only airport. It receives direct flights from Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Penang, Johor Bahru, Bangalore, and Dubai. If you're coming from further afield (UK, Canada, other Indian cities), connect through Kuala Lumpur (KUL) or Singapore (SIN).

2

Take Grab, taxi, or hotel transfer to St Regis

Grab (Southeast Asia's Uber) is the easiest and most affordable option from the airport — just 15–20 minutes and roughly RM 25–40 (≈ £4–7). Hotel transfers can be arranged directly through St Regis. Taxis are also readily available at the airport rank.

3

Check in on 25 December — enjoy a Christmas in paradise

We recommend arriving on 25 December so you can settle in, explore the island, and celebrate Christmas Eve with us at the resort. The wedding takes place the following day, 26 December 2026.

December Weather in Langkawi

Langkawi in December is seriously hot. This is tropical Southeast Asia at its peak — be prepared for intense sun, high humidity, and temperatures that will feel very different from the UK, Canada, or even Singapore indoors.

☀️
Sun Warning — Do Not Underestimate the Heat. The equatorial sun in Langkawi is intense year-round. UV levels regularly reach Extreme (11+) on the UV index. Without sunscreen you can burn in under 20 minutes, even on a cloudy day. Pack SPF 50+ sunscreen and reapply every 2 hours, especially if you're by the pool or beach. Sunstroke is a real risk — stay hydrated and seek shade during the hottest part of the day (11am–3pm).
🔥

Temperature

28–32°C

Relentlessly hot and sunny. Even at 8am it's already warm. Evenings are pleasant outdoors but still very humid — pack light, breathable fabrics for every occasion.

🌦

Rain

Mostly Dry

December is part of Langkawi's dry season. Occasional short afternoon showers may occur but clear quickly. Far less rain than the October monsoon peak.

💧

Humidity

75–85%

Thick tropical humidity on top of the heat. You will sweat. Wear moisture-wicking fabrics, stay hydrated constantly, and avoid heavy exertion in the midday sun.

🌊

Sea Conditions

Calm & Clear

December–March is peak beach season with calm, clear Andaman Sea waters. Perfect for swimming — but always wear reef-safe SPF 50+ in the water too.

👗 What to Pack

👕 Clothing

  • Light cotton or linen — breathable fabrics only
  • Swimwear (multiple sets — you'll use them daily)
  • Light evening dress / shirt for the wedding
  • Cover-up for entering temples or mosques
  • Sandals / flip-flops for the beach
  • Smart casual shoes for dinner

☀️ Sun & Skin — ESSENTIAL

  • SPF 50+ sunscreen — bring plenty, reapply every 2 hours
  • Reef-safe SPF 50+ for snorkelling & water activities
  • After-sun aloe vera lotion — you will need it
  • Wide-brim sunhat or cap (not optional in this heat)
  • UV-rated sunglasses
  • Insect repellent (DEET-based)

🌂 Just In Case

  • Compact travel umbrella
  • Light rain jacket or poncho
  • Power bank for Grab / navigation
  • Universal travel adaptor (Type G sockets in Malaysia)
  • Any prescription medications
👔 Wedding Dress Code: Smart-casual tropical attire. Think flowing dresses, linen shirts, light suits. Avoid heavy fabrics — it will be warm and beautiful outdoors.
